We had a very enjoyable Spring evening watching Rik Metcalfe, our highly skilled chainsawing volunteer, cut up two 100 year old fallen apple trees in Priory Orchard, Ketton. The other volunteers then heaved and hauled the brash to the fire site. The sheep, mainly used as grazers on Ketton Quarry SSSI, quickly investigated the newly cleared ground. The few pieces of mistletoe still had berries in April and were then spread on other living trees.
