Visit to Barnsdale Community Orchard

SCOG helped Anglian Water creat a new community orchard on the banks of Rutland Water near the Barnsdale car park. You can see the 60 or so trees up tot he left as you reach the dip in the entrance road to the Barnsdale car park. The trees have now had new sturdy tree gaurds - protecting them from grazing rabbits, muntjac deer and the occassional mower.

However the 4 year old trees now need some pruning so on Friday 12th October we will be harvesting some apples and training some Rutland Water volunteers about pruning.
